Paint Coverage Calculator

Enter your room dimensions and we'll calculate exactly how many litres of paint you need — including waste, coats and surface type.

Room & Paint Details

Measure wall width × height for each wall. Subtract doors (approx 1.8m²) and windows (approx 1.2m²) per opening.

Breakdown

Total wall area
Less doors & windows
Ceiling area
Net paintable area
Coverage rate
Number of coats
10% wastage buffer
Common can sizes: 1L, 2.5L, 4L, 5L, 10L, 20L. We recommend rounding up to the next can size — leftover paint is useful for touch-ups.
Fresh Plaster

New plaster is very porous. Apply a mist coat (watered-down paint) first, let it dry fully, then apply 2 full coats. Use 6 m²/L as your coverage rate.

Dark Colours

Deep or dark colours often need 3 coats for even coverage, especially when painting over white. Ask your supplier about a tinted primer to reduce coats needed.

Measure Twice

Always measure actual wall dimensions, not floor area. Height × width for each wall gives you the true paintable surface — subtract doors and windows accurately.
